Irrigation and Lighting

Irrigation and Lighting are two elements of Outdoor Living that aren’t often thought about, but the impacts of each can be astounding. At Rolling Acres, our design team gives both irrigation and lighting, the thought that they deserve.

Irrigation, being the one, true crucial investment for landscape plantings, can make or break a landscape in no time at all. Whether new plants are being installed in Spring, Summer, or Fall, they will need to be watered immediately and frequently thereafter. Having a properly constructed irrigation system ensures that these new plants are receiving the water they need now, and all the way through maturity.

Low Voltage, LED Landscape Lighting often separates the part-day outdoor living oasis from the full-day outdoor living oasis. When outdoor lighting is properly designed, it will add a sense of space, comfort, and security to your home. Rolling Acres works with many different lighting manufacturers and our team of designers are available to help with style and location placing techniques to help transform any landscape.

Drainage and Soil Work

Whether a client calls us looking for something as small as a new planting bed to something as large as an all-encompassing outdoor living space, proper drainage is the one factor that will always be considered. The Landscape Architect and designers at Rolling Acres are trained in the correct methods to move water, and we do so in a fashion that exceeds industry standards. You won’t find black flex pipe on any of our drainage projects (unless it’s this size). In addition to under surface drainage, we also utilize a trained eye to regrade and contour the surface of the land in order to ensure that water is getting where it needs to go. Lastly, as artisans of the landscape that respect our planet, we will often utilize different methods of getting water to saturate back into the ground (away from the foundation) in a manner that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Rolling Acres also has the equipment and experience to handle many types of excavation and soil work. Whether you’re in need of waterproofing a foundation or digging up and repairing old drainage, RAL has what it takes to do the job right. In addition to these services, we also handle any variety of county required site preservation or dry well work. Feel free to reach out to us and set a meeting with a member of our design team. We would be happy to review any existing building plans or set up a free on-site consultation to examine the terrain.

Water Features

The vast array of water features that Rolling Acres Landscape Construction has had the opportunity to build over the years can be described as anything from tranquil to roaring. With a sense to design, but with a real understanding of construction, Rolling Acres has created these water features with the utmost respect and passion for the space and the final product. There can be several reasons for having a water feature in your outdoor living space. One reason could be to have the sound for both peace of mind or to block out neighboring sounds. Another reason is to have something beautiful to look at, as many of our water features look as if mother nature has come right up to your home. Whatever your reason may be, feel free to give us a call and we can walk you through all of the possibilities.

Retaining Walls

Depending on the lay of the land and how the client wants to use it, retaining walls might be needed for a variety of reasons. They can hold back a hill or hold up a patio. They can be used to create levels and terraces for aesthetic purposes. They can also help control how we want water to flow to or away from an area. With a small or medium sized area to work with, retaining walls will often become an immediate component of an outdoor living space, so it’s important that proper design and material selection is being considered for their use.

With many years of experience, the team of Landscape Architects and designers at RAL have a strong understanding of how retaining walls play into our outdoor spaces. Grading and drainage are always at the forefront of our design, but we also look at the spaces we’re creating. Retaining Walls will always have their place when necessary, but other possibilities for their use can be considered as well.

These possibilities can include but are not limited to the following:

  • Incorporation of a Water Feature
  • Incorporation of Lighting for both effect and security
  • Creation of Raised Planting Beds
  • Creation of Seat Walls
  • Terraces for planting space and enhanced screening/ views
  • Creation of levels to offer separation of rooms within the outdoor living space
  • Enhancement of an entry, with the ability to add piers w/ cap lights next to walkways

Fire Pits and Fireplaces

Imagine wrapping up a nice meal outside on your patio with family and friends, before lighting up the fire pit or fireplace and finding a bit of relaxation heading into the evening. Every year, more and more of our clients don’t need to imagine this since they’ve had a fire feature incorporated into their outdoor living project. The beauty of having a fire pit or fireplace is that it can be as simple or as ornate as you like and the outcome will be the same; warmth and comfort for you, your family, and your friends to enjoy all of the time. Modern day practices make it easy to choose from wood burning to natural gas or propane, and lighting a fire can be as simple as the flick of a switch or the push of a button. Allow the design team at Rolling Acres Landscape to walk you through some of the styles and options available.

Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor Kitchens have quickly evolved into more than a home for a grill. Now, they are a component of an outdoor living space that will help define the environment around them. The design team at Rolling Acres Landscape Construction can guide you through the myriad of options that come with an outdoor kitchen. All of our outdoor kitchens are custom designed and built to fit our client’s needs and budgets. We have worked extensively with different grill manufacturers, material options, and layouts to fit many styles and spaces. In addition to the basics, we can design your outdoor kitchen to be a place of relaxation or entertainment. Additionally, items such as refrigerators or pizza ovens are just a few of many additional features that can be added to help make your outdoor kitchen a year-round destination.
